ITER Events
The ITER Organization plans several outreach events every year. Click on the links below for more information on upcoming events.
The 13th ITER International School will be held from 9 to 13 December 2024 in Nagoya hosted by National Institute for Fusion Science (NIFS), Japan. The theme this year is "Magnetic Fusion Diagnostics and Data Science."
Diagnostics are key to the achievement of ITER fusion power demonstration goals and they require the application of a wide range of techniques. But diagnostics are not enough to ensure ITER's success; only through advanced analysis of the data they provide will it be possible to guide the experiments towards their fusion power goals. It is timely to address these multidisciplinary areas in the ITER school.
See all information at the link below.
We regret to announce that we have just received word that the Saturday 23 November 2024 Open Doors Day event will have to be cancelled due to a major component lift operation now scheduled for that day. We apologize to those who were planning to sign up to attend. We will communicate about the next Open Doors Day event through this web page.
Attention small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): Fusion for Energy (F4E), the European Domestic Agency in charge of the European in-kind contribution to the ITER project, is organizing an SME Day on Wednesday 13 November 2024.
It will take place in person at F4E premises in Barcelona, Spain (limited to 70 people) or remotely (technical details for remote access given at the registration).
SME Day aims to foster collaboration between Fusion for Energy and SMEs who have an interest in the fusion energy sector as well as in developing a better understanding of respective needs via fruitful exchange.
ITER Director-General Barabaschi will hold a hybrid press conference (in-person and remote) at 10:30 a.m. CET on 3 July 2024 to provide additional details on the proposed ITER baseline.
If you would like to attend in person or on line, please contact Sabina Griffith at sabina.griffith@iter.org.
The surge in private sector fusion initiatives has driven a reconsideration of how to optimize public-private engagement. How can years of accumulated knowledge and lessons learned during the design, manufacturing, and assembly phases of the ITER Project be better disseminated?
With this question in mind, the ITER Organization is organizing an Inaugural Private-Public Fusion Workshop at the ITER site in Saint-Paul-lez-Durance, France, on 27-29 May 2024. The outcomes of this workshop will help to establish priorities and formulate plans for how ITER will engage with private sector fusion companies going forward. The insights gained will also be provided freely to other efforts geared toward public-private collaboration, including for example the IAEA's program for its recently formed World Fusion Energy Group.
More information at the link below.
