ITER Events
The ITER Organization plans several outreach events every year. Click on the links below for more information on upcoming events.
The ITER Organization and the European agency for ITER, Fusion for Energy, will be hosting tours of the ITER construction site for the general public on Saturday 26 November 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The event is full. We hope to welcome you during one of our 2023 Open Doors Day events. To receive a notification about the next planned event, sign up under the SUBSCRIBE tab at the top of each ITER webpage by clicking "ITER Open Doors Days - notification."
The tenth edition of the ITER Games—the annual sporting event for people working directly or indirectly for the ITER Project and for residents of neighbouring villages Saint Paul-lez-Durance and Vinon-sur-Verdon—will be held on Saturday 10 September 2022 in Vinon. This year's choice of events includes cross-country running, football, mountain biking, tennis, kayaking and pétanque.
The ITER International School aims to prepare young scientists/engineers for work in the field of nuclear fusion and in research applications associated with the ITER Project. The 11th edition will be held from 25 to 29 July 2022 in San Diego, California (US) on the topic of "ITER Plasma Scenarios and Control."
Most attendees will be graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and early career faculty and research staff working in fields relevant to the ITER program. Although the agenda will focus on topics of scenarios and control, attendees are not required to be working in these subfields.
All nationalities, whether representing an ITER member or not, are welcome. Registration is open now at:
The Second IAEA Technical Meeting on Plasma Disruptions and their Mitigation will take place at ITER Headquarters in Saint-Paul-lez-Durance, France, from 19 to 22 July 2022, hosted by the Government of France through the ITER Organization.
The event aims to serve as a forum to help coordinate experimental, theoretical and modelling work in the field of plasma disruptions with special emphasis on developing a solid basis for possible mitigation strategies in ITER and next generation fusion devices.
The event aims to bring together junior and senior scientific fusion project leaders, plasma physicists, including theoreticians and experimentalists, and experts (researchers and engineers) in the field of plasma disruptions.
The ITER Organization and the European agency for ITER, Fusion for Energy, will be hosting tours of the ITER construction site for the general public on Saturday 18 June 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Registration is now closed. As expected, the event filled up very quickly due to a Covid-related backlog of demand. Please be informed that ITER Communications is already planning other open door days events for autumn 2022.
The ITER Organization begins recruiting on 17 January 2022 for the Monaco/ITER Postdoctoral Fellowship program. If you are a national of one of the ITER Members (China, the European Union, India, Japan, Korea, Russia and the US) or of the Principality of Monaco—and your PhD was awarded after 1 January 2019 (or you will have received your PhD by the deadline for taking up an award)—you may be eligible for a two-year postdoctoral position in the ITER Organization.
All application information can be found on the dedicated website. Applications close on 1 March 2022.
