Franco Gandini
Franco Gandini joined ITER on 1 April as Microwave Engineer within the CHD Department. Before coming to ITER he worked at the Istituto di Fisica del Plasma (IFP) — part of the Italian National Council of Research - in Milan for 20 years, mainly in the domain of microwaves and ECRH systems. He participated in the development and operation of the ECRH system at FTU (Frascati Tokamak Upgrade) in Frascati (Rome) and also collaborated with many research institutes from several countries: CRPP (Lausanne, Switzerland), AUG (Garching, Germany), W7-AS (Garching) & W7-X (Greifswald, Germany), LHD (Toki, Japan).
Franco's wife and 16 month-old child still live in Milan, but will join him in Manosque this summer.
Once he will have some spare time again, Franco will take up his favourite pastimes of salsa dancing, riding (he used to participate in jumping competitions) and editing home-made holiday movies.
