Awards 2020

Stay tuned...

As each year at ITER draws to a close, the Director-General hosts a celebration to recognize the hard work and commitment of the staff and collaborators. Normally, these celebrations are held at the Grand Theatre in Aix-en-Provence, featuring culturally diverse performances from ITER Member countries.

As Newsline was rolling from the presses, ITER Communication staff and IT specialists were preparing the studio for Tuesday's virtual award ceremony. From right to left: Laban Coblentz, Head of Communication; Robert Papp, IT Telecommunication Responsible Officer; Ruxandra Pilsiu, communication officer in charge of the ITER studio; Shira Tabachnikoff, Internal & Stakeholder Relations Manager; and Mickaël Flandrin, IT specialist.
But of course, 2020 has not been like any other year. Perhaps fittingly, the celebration this week will be virtual, featuring the first ever ITER Awards to highlight key points of progress made by various teams under this year's pandemic conditions. ITER staff members were asked to nominate and then vote for the most deserving teams in four categories: First-of-a-Kind Component, Balance-of-Plant System, Installation and Assembly Sequence, and Best Support During the COVID-19 Pandemic. The awards will be announced during the virtual ceremony on Tuesday evening, 8 December. Stay tuned for the results in next week's Newsline.
