The surge in private sector fusion initiatives has driven a reconsideration of how to optimize public-private engagement. How can years of accumulated knowledge and lessons learned during the design, manufacturing, and assembly phases of the ITER Project be better disseminated?
With this question in mind, the ITER Organization is organizing an Inaugural Private-Public Fusion Workshop at the ITER site in Saint-Paul-lez-Durance, France, on 27-29 May 2024. The outcomes of this workshop will help to establish priorities and formulate plans for how ITER will engage with private sector fusion companies going forward. The insights gained will also be provided freely to other efforts geared toward public-private collaboration, including for example the IAEA's program for its recently formed World Fusion Energy Group.

The subject of the 2023 school is "The Impact and Consequences of Energetic Particles on Fusion Plasmas" with a scientific program coordinated by Simon Pinches (ITER Organization). As the start of ITER operations approaches, it is timely to address this multidisciplinary topic that includes plasma self-heating by fusion-born alpha-particles, the influence of energetic particles on stability, diagnosing energetic particle transport and loss, and understanding runaway electrons. (Find out more about past schools here.)
Registration is open now.
The ITER Port Plugs & Diagnostics Division is pleased to invite you to a workshop on the Calibration Techniques for Infrared Diagnostics to be held on 5-6 June 2023. It is a hybrid meeting, with both in-person and on-line participation.
The objective of the workshop is to present calibration techniques used in current tokamaks, with the aim to streamline the calibration approach for ITER infrared diagnostics.
The workshop is recommended for professionals and students working in the domain of infrared diagnostics for nuclear fusion plants.
For more information about how to participate, please contact please contact Jena Priyanka at Priyanka.Jena@iter.org.

The tenth edition of the ITER Games—the annual sporting event for people working directly or indirectly for the ITER Project and for residents of neighbouring villages Saint Paul-lez-Durance and Vinon-sur-Verdon—will be held on Saturday 10 September 2022 in Vinon. This year's choice of events includes cross-country running, football, mountain biking, tennis, kayaking and pétanque.
The ITER International School aims to prepare young scientists/engineers for work in the field of nuclear fusion and in research applications associated with the ITER Project. The 11th edition will be held from 25 to 29 July 2022 in San Diego, California (US) on the topic of "ITER Plasma Scenarios and Control."
Most attendees will be graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and early career faculty and research staff working in fields relevant to the ITER program. Although the agenda will focus on topics of scenarios and control, attendees are not required to be working in these subfields.
All nationalities, whether representing an ITER member or not, are welcome. Registration is open now at:
