Description

Purpose/Scope:

The Blanket Assembly Transporter (BAT) is an in-vessel assembly equipment to perform assembly of the blanket modules inside of the ITER vacuum vessel. It is a redundant robotic arm with 10degree-of-freedoms and 10m-long reach. The blanket modules are composed of the first walls and shield blocks. The first walls weigh up to 1.4tons, and the shield blocks up to 3.1tons and 4tons depending on their locations.

The scope of the task is:

• To develop the BAT kinematic simulator to verify the design of the BAT and to demonstrate its compatibility with the in-vessel assembly sequences. It involves generating collision avoidance trajectories, interface checking with the other in-vessel assembly equipment, etc.
• To construct a BAT structural simulator. Flexible model of the BAT Transporter needs to be constructed considering the joint stiffness and body flexibility.
• To develop a control algorithm considering the flexibility of the BAT Transporter and a compensation algorithm through visual servoing and force control.
• To support IO TROs in the on-going technical follow-up of the work carried out by suppliers, including participation in regular technical coordination meetings and project progress reviews.

The main activities to be performed by the IPA are to:

• Develop the BAT kinematic simulator by using NVIDIA ISAAC SIM.
• Develop the GUI for the BAT kinematic simulator by using Python Qt library and ROS2.
• Develop inverse kinematic algorithms by using constrained nonlinear optimization algorithms or global optimization algorithms (eg. Rapid Random Tree).
• Develop parallel computing techniques by utilizing the NVIDIA GPU.
• Construct a flexible model of the BAT Transporter and implement it to the BAT simulator.
• Develop parameter identification technique to calibrate the flexible model.
• Develop visual servoing and admittance force control of the flexible BAT Transporter for positioning of the end-effector to the blanket modules.
• Execute assembly operation scenario assessments;
• Carry out other related tasks, upon request from line management.

Technical Competencies and Experience:

Experience in robot simulator and programming will be an advantage. High level of programming skill required;

• Python, C++, MATLAB/SIMULINK are required;
• Experience on robot simulator such as ISAAC SIM, Gazabo, or others will be an advantage. For information, the BAT simulator uses ISAAC SIM and its GUI is written using Python Qt library.
• Image processing (eg. OpenCV) experience is advantage.

Experience on CATIA V5 or Solidworks will be an advantage;

Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);

Experience in complex and multidisciplinary projects would be an advantage;

Description

Purpose/Scope:

The IPA shall conduct procurement tenders, chairing evaluating committees, awarding contracts, negotiating and concluding contracts. He/she shall be appointed to one or several user groups (pending the actual procurement needs existing at the time of employment) and interact with the TRO/CRO of those user group(s) on a daily basis to prepare the Technical Specifications and related tender documents

The purpose of the IPA assignment is to find a highly skilled experimental Ion Cyclotron Resonant Heating (ICRH) physicist engineer that would provide expertise to the Ion Cyclotron Heating project on Physic and Operational aspects, in particular in the context of the new ITER Research Plan

List of activities:

The activities to be performed are

• the simulation of the ICRH scenario with respect to the latest ITER Research Plan outputs, with synergy with other heating system
• the computation of ICRH coupling cases with respect to the new maching configuration
• the production of high Radio Frequency (RF) test procedures to prepare the Antenna prototype high power RF test campaign
• to liaise with ITER phycic to generate inputs for usage in the RF modelling (density profiles, gas injection)
• to follow experiment performed in other fusion devices (Ion Cyclotron Wall Conditioning / RF heating) in order to consolidate the operational parameters for ITER cases
• to provide the RF and ICRH Physics expertize to the other ICH team members, as global team improvement

Provides support to mechanical and structural engineering activities for the Tritium Plant Project for the scope defined in the 2024 baseline. Provides support for the preparation of the design packages needed for the first operations of the Tritium Plant and Detritiation System supply contract

List of activities:

• Becomes broadly familiar with the types of in-plant equipment and its layout planned at ITER with assistance provided by the ITER technical officers for DS and other Tritium Plant systems as needed;
• Reviews detailed drawings and layout and provides feedback to designers;

• Drafts analysis reports incorporating all necessary data using IO documentation templates for vessel design verification, interface loads, and interface loads verification, etc.;
• Contributes to defining design solutions for the vessels, and interfacing items (nozzles, piping, supporting structures);
• Offers input for the 3D model evolution by generating written instructions to designers with possible options; supports assigned CAD designer(s);

Provides support in AVEVA for piping/mechanical components and layout engineering activities for the Tritium Plant Project for the scope defined in the 2024 baseline. Provides support for the preparation of the design packages needed for first operations of Tritium Plant and Detritiation System supply contract

List of activities to be performed

• Becomes broadly familiar with the types of in-plant equipment and its layout planned at ITER with assistance provided by the ITER technical officers for Detritiation System (DS) and other Tritium Plant systems as needed;
• Reviews 3D models of REMS and Tritium Plant systems in plant environment identifying solutions for the plant layout optimization;
• Supports the development of detailed systems models for implementation of systems routings, supports, equipment interfaces, and interfaces between different PBS glove boxes;
• Prepares system layouts inside of the secondary enclosures such as Glove Box;
• Extracts and analyzes data from the AVEVA Engineering database including engineering lists and Bill of Materials (BOMs);
• Develops and Prepares drawings: GA drawings, equipment drawings;
• Assesses loads in the supporting system and evaluates the span of supports;
• Defines technical solutions for system layout and routing;
• Contributes to the evolution of the 3D model by generating written instruction for designers with possible options; and supporting assigned CAD designer(s);
• Supports the preparation of specifications for interfaces, supporting structures, etc. in the drawings format;
• Coordinates procurement, pre-fabrication, and construction activities related to the support structures;
• Reviews and analyzes clash status reports and proposes layout solutions for integration of REMS (PBS64) and Tritium Plant systems (PBS32) in the ITER configuration model;
• Verifies consistency between P&ID and 3D models, updating diagrams and 3D models to implement necessary Interface Point and Battery limits

Description

Purpose/Scope:

The integration of 58 Cassette Assemblies will be executed mainly in China and partly at the IO Site. The first stages are related to mobilization, preparation of facilities and procedures, and prototyping. The Associate will contribute to this work. Series Production will begin at the end of 2026.

List of activities:

The IPA will report to the Divertor Cassette Assembly Integration responsible officer within the Divertor Project and refer to them for decision-making. Depending on the Associate's profile and experience, they will be involved in the following procurement oversight activities:

To support the definition of the requirements on Divertor-mounted Diagnostics and Operational Instrumentation:

• Define the list and scope of documents to be provided by the Divertor-mounted Diagnostics and Operational Instrumentation
• To support and interact with the Diagnostics and Operational Instrumentation contact persons and providers to develop the related documentation, in coordination with the Integrator

To support the technical development and review of the engineering documentation and procedures:

• Provide input and support for the development of the engineering documentation
• Provide input and support for the development of the QA/QC procedures

To support review and maintaining the contract's documentation in the project's documentation management systems:

• Facilitate the review of contract deliverables in IDM
• Follow-up the review of drawings in SMDD
• Initiate and support Material Approval Requests for new material or new proposed use in the material approval database

To prepare and execute the contract's gate reviews and contractual gates:

• Participate in review board selection and organization
• Ensure completion of the gate review input package
• Prepare and execute reviews
• Follow-up on any action or chit as a result of the review

To follow-up on the qualification of sites, equipment, personnel and procedures:

To follow-up on the execution of the MIPs (Manufacturing and Inspection Plans) in the ITER MDB (Manufacturing DataBase):

• Follow-up the work execution progress based on MDB and release control points
• Prepare progress reports based on MDB and other inputs

To support the resolution of deviation requests and non-conformance reports:

• Help formalize any deviation request
• Facilitates the timely resolution of non-conformance reports
• Monitor the status of the Integrator's internal non-compliances

To follow-up on the execution of the Cassette Assemblies acceptance tests:

• Coordinate the preparation and support the execution of the Diagnostic FIIs functional tests
• Coordinate the preparation and execution of the CA's final acceptance tests

To coordinate the collection and implementation of lessons learned:

• To support the Integrator in summarizing lessons learned
• Ensure proper implementation of the lessons learned in the following stages or tasks

To prepare the EWPs and handover for installation:

• Help prepare the DCAI related Engineering Work Packages
• Support handover for installation

Description

List of activities to be performed

• Supports the preparation of the I&C Manufacturing Readiness Reviews and Design Reviews documentation of the Visible Spectroscopy Reference System (VSRS) diagnostic. Also, supports the generation of appropriate documentation, including technical review of the documentation prepared by the development teams of the DAs on visible spectroscopy systems other than VSRS.
• Assists with the integration of the optical spectroscopic hardware (spectrometers, but also calibration light sources, power meters, alignment camera, fibre optics ...) with the more standard I&C hardware (fast and slow controllers, network switches, data acquisition chassis ...) of the VSRS diagnostic.
• Performs coding and validation the algorithms for the specific spectroscopic data analysis, alignment and calibration of the VSRS diagnostic. This is itself based on continuing the support the maintenance and coordination of the development of the CASPER code (visible spectroscopy modelling and analysis code).
