The magic of plasma physics

Held in October every year, the French Festival of Science (Fête de la Science) is the opportunity for the ITER Organization to encounter a very young public and share the magic of plasma science.

Thanks to a team of 12 volunteers, the ITER Organization was able to participate in three local "Fête de la Science" events this year and interact with members of the public.
A hundred marshmallows, a plasma ball, and magnetic filings are all it takes to win child's interest. And ITER "plasmagicians" are experts at it, faithfully volunteering at local outreach events with hands-on displays to bring ITER science and technology to the broader public.

Science is like magic: the invisible power of magnets and the sparkling plasma ball never fail to surprise children!
With this year's theme "Climate change: attenuation and adaptation," the ITER booths at Fête de la Science events in Manosque, Marseille, and Villeneuve-Loubet (near Nice) on the weekends of 8/9 and 15/16 October were particularly well attended. Thousands of visitors came by the ITER stands and left with a better understanding of why the seven ITER Members have united to create the unique ITER experiment.
